Frequently asked questions
What is a title tag?
The <title> tag is what shows in Google's blue clickable link in search results and in the browser tab. It is the single most important on-page SEO element — Google weighs it heavily, and click-through rate from the SERP depends on it more than any other tag.
How long should a title tag be?
50 to 60 characters. Google truncates with an ellipsis above 60. Below 30 and you are leaving SERP real estate empty. The sweet spot is 55 characters with the primary keyword in the first 30.
Should the title tag include my brand name?
On the homepage, yes — always. On individual blog posts and product pages, only if you have spare characters AND the brand is recognized in your niche. For most pages, drop the brand from the title and use the saved characters for the keyword + a benefit.
Should the title tag match the H1 on the page?
They should be similar in topic, but they don't have to match word-for-word. The title is for the SERP click; the H1 is for the on-page reader. The title can be punchier and more curiosity-driven; the H1 can be more direct.
Can I A/B test title tags?
Yes — and you should. Pick two of the variants this tool generates, swap one in for two weeks, and watch click-through rate in Google Search Console. The winner often surprises. Keep the version that earns the most clicks at the same rank.
